DIPLOMA OF SURFACE OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT Quarry & Surface Mine Manager Training, Assessment and Qualification

Diploma qualification (Release 3 – updated 26 March 2014 – current as at 15 Feb 2014)

This qualification reflects the role of mine managers in an open cut coal or metalliferous mine or a quarry, who perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others.  They are required to demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning and implement safety management plans.  There are no entry requirements for this qualification.  This qualification and our program is for people who have experience at supervisory levels and experience in this for some time.  It is also for those who are managing a quarry and need recognition for their knowledge and experience, including those who may need to move to a State/Territory of Australia where a statutory ticket is required for managing a quarry.  This qualification may be required before being granted permission to sit for a quarry managers’ statutory ticket.
